How to Style a Short Dress for Fall 2020
Ladies, there’s no need to say goodbye to your favourite short dresses just yet. In fact, your mini dresses can actually be part of your fall 2020 wardrobe just by tweaking things a little. Personally, I’ve always seen dresses as the “easy way out“. Dresses allow you to get ready in just 10 minutes without jeopardising the way you look. Keep reading to learn how to style a short dress for fall 2020!
Layer your dress
A very easy way to style your favourite fall dresses is to throw a simple cardigan over them. If the weather is too cold for a cardigan, don’t hesitate to layer it with a trendy coat on top of it. Layering your dresses is definitely the best way to allow you to wear them during colder weather. Also, don’t be scared to have fun a little by wearing your dress OVER a knit to keep things interesting. As far as I’m concerned, there are no rules when it comes to layering. In fact, the weirder the better!
Wear your dress with boots
This is no big secret but I often believe many people forget about boots and how convenient they can be. Indeed, wearing a pair of high boots can do the trick! This tip is probably the one I used the most when styling my favourite summer dresses for fall. You could easily show some legs by wearing a shorter dress and knee high boots or over the knee boots.
Length is your not enemy
As I mentioned earlier, don’t be afraid to mix different layers. They do not necessarily mean same length, quite the contrary actually. For example, you could easily style a short dress with a knitwear on top, add an oversized maxi cardigan AND a coat with a huge scarf! With the right styling, the proper accessories and of course, a bit of imagination, you will come up with the next big trend. Having fun with length is probably the one thing that will make your outfit stand out the most.
Darker colours are always welcomed
Of course I would suggest to stay away from very bright colours. Fall has a tendency of being darker or quite neutral. For instance, choose a neutral and darker floral print rather than a bright and colourful one. In case of doubt, I would suggest a very simple colour such as black, burgundy, cream (off-white), brown or orange. These are usually the most popular colours during fall and you can never go wrong with them!
Wearing a limited edition Zara trench coat, Shona Joy mini dress, Maslo Jewelry accessories, Coach handbag and finally, the Gianvito Rossi Navare boots in brown.
Last but not least
For additional fall style reinforcement, incorporate one of the season’s most important staples: knits. I know I’ve mentioned it quite a lot in this article, but with good reasons. If you don’t feel like wearing a knit, a huge scarf or a poncho can definitely do the trick. Finally, I would highly recommend a beautiful hat and other cute fall accessories. Do not underestimate the power of the RIGHT accessories, ever!
