My Delicious Summer Lunch at Le Tap Room | Temps d’un Café on a sunny day
Going to North Hatley is very exciting for me because it usually means that I’m heading to Le Manoir Hovey. This breathtaking hotel located in front of Lake Massawappi reminds me of the English countryside as its best. Everything there makes me happy but one thing I always remember is the amazing food. Delicious Summer Lunch at Le Tap Room
Delicious Summer Lunch at Le Tap Room in North Hatley
I’ve discovered North Hatley this year and I’ve been twice since then. To be completely honest with you, I don’t know anything about this city other than Manoir Hovey. After spending the most amazing winter weekend getaway, I decided to go back to enjoy a delicious lunch and relax next to the pool. Find out about My Summer Lunch at Le Tap Room.
A few things to know before going to Le Tap Room Manoir Hovey
Due to the current situation, you will have to wear a mask inside the hotel and restaurant. However, once you are finally outside, you will be able to remove your mask and breathe again. Make sure to book a table on their beautiful terrace to enjoy the Lake Massawippi view. This view is absolutely stunning and truly makes your lunch worth every penny.
Starting with fresh oysters, tuna carpaccio, mozzarella salad and fresh bread
When the weather is nice, oysters are usually part of my order. There is nothing better than fresh oysters during summer on a beautiful terrace. It’s also an amazing plate to share with everyone. We also ordered the tuna carpaccio wich by the way, was absolutely delicious. To wrap up the starters, we fisnished with a housemade mozarella, tomatoes and basil salad. They also treated us with a delicious white wine something I love drinking with salads and raw fish.
Why you should try the Tap Room Pub at Manoir Hovey,
The Tap Room Pub at le Manoir Hovey is something you should definitely try during summer. The menu is not too big which is usually a good sign. It allows the restaurant to focus on specific recipes and make sure the quality is always on point. Their ingredients are always very fresh with an amazing selection. Despite the word “pub”, the Tap Room is for me, an elegant restaurant with a high cuisine’s experience.
The main courses
Since we decided to try a few different starters, choosing one main course to share seemed like the perfect idea. However, we did order a HUGE fries each and let me tell you that the size will not disappoint you. Our main course was an amazing organic salmon with carrots, miso and maple syrup. I am always very skeptical about ordering salmon in a restaurant for many reasons. First of all, the salmon is always too dry for my own taste and usually lack of flavours. Luckily, this one was very tasty and cooked well enough without being too dry. A great and surprising touch was the dijon seeds on top of the salmon to bring out the flavours even more. My delicious lunch at Le Tap Room Manoir Hovey was so satisfying, fresh and perfect for a sunny day.
A different glass for each meal
To make this stunning lunch even more perfect, Manoir Hovey was very careful with the wine selection. As a mentioned earlier, our starters came with a great white one from a private import .To continue on that note, we tried a delicious rosé from Isle Saint-Pierre, an amazing choice with salmon. Just when I thought our lunch was over, prosecco started pouring into my glass, oops.
Strawberry shortcake and a selection of local cheeses
I will admit that I usually am a very big eater. Even though we shared every single plates on the table, my stomach had enough. However, can you really say no to a good looking dessert and a selection of local cheeses? I don’t think so! We tried a few of their cheeses with an amazing strawberry cake. This was definitely the most delicious lunch with the most beautiful view of the summer!
