How to host an easy, delicious, warm and cozy Fall dinner with your friends this year

When thinking of cozy fall dinner, we automatically think about a big and delicious big diner with meat or chicken and many other things. What if you’re diet doesn’t allow you to eat that kind of food. I don’t have a specific “diet” to follow, however, meat and chicken are out of my life FOR GOOD. On the menu this year is oysters, a big cheese platter, asparagus, carrots, cocktails (many) and an homemade apple galette.

A few ideas to spend a wonderful time with delicious food, without spending hours in the kitchen

Switch up the usual dinner for l’Apéro! How to host a warm cozy fall dinner if you have a very complicated menu? Forget about that and switch for something even better, l’Apéro !  The key is to have GREAT products on your table and delicious cocktails. Initially, the oyster idea came from the fact that I didn’t want to spend the whole day cooking. Having oysters make your dinner look fancier and everyone loves them (almost)! Don’t forget to add some lemon, vinegar, spicy sauce and other interesting things you can have with your oysters. Add some grilled/roasted vegetables to the table to make sure you’re guests have something else than just cheese and oysters.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match your table!

Don’t be afraid to fill that table. I love seeing a table full of flowers, food and other pretty things to look at. The one thing I love doing when setting up the dinner table is to mix and match. You don’t necessarily need a table where everything looks the same. You could easily have fun with different plates or different tea-towels, like we did for this fall table. Add little details on every guest’s plate like a small flowers or even a printed menu that you can make yourself.

How to host a Warm and Cozy Fall dinner? Easy! Oysters, cheese, vegetables, cocktails and an apple galette! These are delicious but also very easy to make! You will impress everyone without spending the whole day in your kitchen.

Buy local (if possible) to make this dinner more special and divine

I love going to the market to find fresh and local products. It’s sometimes very hard in Québec to find good vegetables but we do have some delicious options. The one thing that makes me SUPER happy is a good cheese platter. You cannot go wrong with a cheese platter, unless you are hosting a bunch of vegan people. Even then, you could make a vegan cheese section to make everyone happy! Québec has a wonderful selection of local cheeses.

Be creative with your cheese platter like adding the 2018 Vintage Honey from Miel d’Anicet

Delicious honey is a great addition to a local cheese platter. I went for one of my favourite honey, Miel d’Anicet. This honey is organic and comes from Les Hautes-Laurentides. I cannot tell you how good this brand is. In addition to their AMAZING products, Miel d’Anicet has a beauty line called Mélia. I would usually put the honey in a pretty jar but not with this one. I made sure to choose a marble plate that would go with the honey jar design, call me psycho.  The one I got is called the 2018 Vintage Honey and is the most beautiful honey jar I’ve seen.Miel d’Anicet is known for being a high end brand with unique products and flavours. They also offer a variety of delicious mustards, topping and other things that you could definitely add to your fall table.

Honey is not the only thing I added to this amazing platter. Indeed, to make everything a little bit more unique, I grilled some oysters mushrooms and cut them in small pieces. Oysters mushrooms have a unique taste and go surprisingly amazing with cheese.

Coordinate your fall cocktails with your food!

Inviting people over for a fall dinner is fun but what’s even better is to impress them with little things. Indeed, showing off your skills as a mixologist is always fun! Our warm and cozy fall dinner had a selection of 2 amazing cocktails from our book 1 ou 2 Cocktails. These were specifically created for fall which is the reason why the colours of these go perfectly with this table! It’s also very important to coordinate your food with your cocktails. In fact, you have to choose them carefully to make sure that your cocktails goes with what you’re eating.

Finally, don’t forget about dessert!

Fall is amazing for all the delicious desserts. I love apple anything like pies, crumbles, drinks and so on. My first thought was to make a simple and divine apple crumble since it goes well with the warm and cozy spirit. But, I wanted to change things up a little and went for an apple galette instead. If apples are not your thing, my amazing homemade carrot cake will be the highlight of your night! It’s very important to add something sweet at the end of your fall dinner. It will complete this amazing dinner on a lovely and delicious touch!
